I upgraded from Leap 15.1 to 15.2 and now I can’t change the display size to anything other than 800x600.
Attempts to change the setting see a brief change to the new screen size but the screen immediately returns to 800x600.
I didn’t find anyone else with this problem, but it’s likely the search string I’m using.
Leap 15.2
KDE desktop
The environment started with Leap 15.0 and was upgraded to 15.1 with both of them able to change the size of the display.
Welcome to the Forums!
If I understand correctly, you are installing Leap 15.2 as a guets OS on a VMWare VM.
Knowing what host OS you are using to run VMWare may help those willing to offer help.
Leap 15.2 might have problems with some virtual graphics adapters, defaulting to a framebuffer that only supports 800x600 resolution; try to change the graphics adapter in your VM to see if anything changes.
Otherwise there might be something to configure or install in the guest OS, but not being a regular VMWare user I cannot be specific here.
I see something similar on VirtualBox when using the VMSVGA virtual graphics adapter, which is the default in VMWare AFAIK.
Everything normal with the VBoxSVGA graphics adapter though. Apparently something has changed in Leap 15.2 that VMSVGA doesn’t like.
Try to change something in the graphics setup of your VM, or wait for a VMWare user to read this thread.
Although I can’t help with the main issue I at least can confirm that quote … as I didn’T got any issues on bare metal after upgrading from 15.1 to 15.2.
Thank you to both of you. It’s good to know that the problem is specific to my environment.
I don’t see a way to change the graphics adapter. I did enable the graphics option and I got the appropriate message about no graphics device
found which is identical to what i see with my Windows clients, but I’m still unable to successfully change the display size. 15.2 doesn’t currently appear
in the supported OS list in VMware so I may just have to wait.
