Unable to boot openSUSE 11.2

Yes, I’m dutch, so my english will not be perfect

I installed openSUSE 11.2 (The dvd(!)) in “Safe Kernel” mode, becouse it otherwise just won’t boot the installer. The only thing I saw was “Loading Kernel”, and after that: Nothing but a black screen…

Wel the installing went good, but I didn’t install the GRUB. I knew what I was doing. I installed openSUSE WITHOUT a GRUB and after the installing I booted Ubuntu 9.10 and gave the command “sudo update-grub” (ubuntu 9.10 is using GRUB2). openSUSE appeared in my GRUB, so I rebooted to boot openSUSE. Remember that the only thing from openSUSE that I could boot was
“openSUSE 11.2 (x86-x64)”. I couldn’t boot a failsafe or something like that.

I booted openSUSE and I saw verry much text passing by, but it halted after 2 seconds. The last rule of text was
“rip_child [verrylongcode]”. And there it halted and nothing happend. I waited 30 minutes, but it remained at that rule.

After 3 reboots the same result. Re-installed openSUSE, same problem!

I formatted openSUSE 11.2 from the hard disk drive, in hope that YOU guys can help me!

Really nobody? I really want openSUSE, but if i can’t install it, I begin to think that Ubuntu is better.

You did not provide very much information. What came before the
“rip_child[verylongcode]”? I do not recall ever seeing such a message, nor does
“rip_child” occur any place in the kernel source, nor in the /etc, /usr, /bin or
/sbin trees. I do not think it is a Dutch translation, but I have no idea what
component is issuing that printout.

I installed openSUSE again, and this time I installed the Grub. Now I can boot it, but openSUSE’s grub isn’t the grub in the MBR, but I don’t mind. But now I’ve got still some questions.

I installed openSUSE in failsafe. But when I boot openSUSE now, I see a lot of tekst passing by (in a HUGE resolution). Can I change that in a normal (how is it called? splash screen?) screen? And when I’ve had that bunch of tekst, he automaticly log’s in??? In YAST, it says that he won’t login automaticly???!!!

Can you guys help me?
