Tvtime & Kdetv problems

Hi, I got some issues with my TV card. It won’t work with either tvtime or kdetv. It’s nothin wrong with the card itself since it has worked before with linux (Ubuntu & tvtime).

With Tvtime now I only get this message:

Kdetv just says “unable to grab video” and shows black screen with no sound, but it founds the channels ok when scanning.

my tv-card is a LifeView FlyTV Platinum Mini2 card=74,autodetected and sits in a laptop. Can any help on this?

I note at least one LifeView model has problems with openSUSE-11.0 saa7134 driver.

If you’re using newer model of ATI graphics card(>= radeon 9600)and fglrx drive >=8.4, then type “aticonfig --tvf=NTFS-N --tvs=VIDEO --ovt=Xv.” What “–ovt=Xv” parameter does is add " ‘VideOverlay’ ‘on’" and “‘OpenGLOverlay’ ‘off’” to fglrx device section of xorg.conf file. That solved my problem that you mentioned about tvtime. However, KDETV is another story, it’ll not run correctly, and it constantly turns my screen to blank after a few seconds. My advice is to forget about KDETV, it’s the predecessor of tvtime, and it’s no longer being develop since v.89. I think KDETV v1.0 is suppose to be tvtime. Also, if you’re using any desktop effect in kDE desktop >= 4.0 that requires compiz, turn it off because it interferes with tvtime.
