When i install Tumbleweed with btrfs-raid1 on nvme0n1p2 and nvme1n1p2, and have /boot/efi and /boot/efi1 on nvme0n1p1 and nvme1n1p1 which of course are fat32. Swap partitions are nvme0n1p3 and nvme1n1p3, both half if total ram size. No matter if i use grub2-bls or systemd-boot will it concistenly bootup right. It almost always drops to rescue shell whereupon i reboot,type luks2 passwd and if i am lucky i boot up properly… why dosen’t it boot correctly each time?
Since when have you experienced these issues?
I am asking because yesterday after a large Tumbleweed update, I ended up on the rescue shell for the first time after 2 years without boot issues.
I use Btrfs and full disk encryption but no raid setup (only one disk), I wonder if recent Btrfs changes have introduced some incompatibility. Sustemd-boot in ly case.
NVMe SSDs in RAID 1 on openSUSE require the motherboard’s SATA controller to be set to AHCI mode rather than RAID mode in BIOS, and the system firmware must support UEFI booting from NVMe devices. So you could try checking that in the BIOS just in case it is as simple as that perhaps?
