Tips for use Steam Link with Steam on openSUSE

Hi,

I’ve bough Steam Link for playing to my games on my TV with XBOX 360 wired controller and it’s work pretty well.
I’ve experiment some issues cause some features that works on my computer doesn’t work with Steam Link so here’s few tips you need to know to enjoy plenty your games on TV :

**General :
**- Use big picture display mode on your computer if you want to use controller and have access to all settings easily.

  • You need to install Xinput package or your controller won’t work if you plugged them on the Steam Link
  • Then add manually each controller one by one (don’t plug both on the first time) on the controller menu of steam link and set model (for me XBOX 360) then check all button work.

**No sound on some games :
**- I’ve got sound on main games such Dirt, Strike Suit Zero, Skull Girls but not on Bastion for example.
> Change your sound setting from Line Out to Digital Output S/PDIF to get sound in all your games
**
My right analog pad on controller doesn’t work anymore :
**- Uncheck XBOX 360 configuration assistant and let only Steam Controller Features

  • Restart Steam Client from your computer to be sure that changes have been apply : now your controller should fully works

Note : I play with controller on Torchlight II and I need to activate XBOX 360 configuration assistant to load Runic Games configuration.
Then I turn off this option when I need to play to other game. (no need to restart Steam)

***Still in progress : ***
I’ve open some port using this : https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711
But still have to completely shutdown firewall to get image and sound on all games …

Perhaps it’s because I launch manually sh but Move Or Die simply do not detect controller, A button is not working only directional cross and even with 2 controllers plugin, each can browse menu and option but in multiplayer, there are detected as same controller … So we play to Speed Runner, it’s fully compatible and more stable.

Hi, nice writeup, thanks.

A bit OT: your signature show GTX 1060. Did you have any problem to install the proprietary driver? Did you use the repo or the “hard way”?

No problem for installation or stability, everything works fine since I bought it. I use Leap 42.2 and i’m on NVIDIA proprietary driver.
