When I click on shourtcut Timeshift, nothing happens.
When I run command
peradetlic@localhost:~> sudo timeshift-gtk
[sudo] password for root:
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
(timeshift-gtk:8069): Gtk-WARNING **: 10:10:55.845: cannot open display:
peradetlic@localhost:~>
I would really like to use Timeshift and not alternative because I’am not experienced user and I’am so thrilled and used to it (I’am using on Debian and it work flawlessly).
I do not know what timeshift is, and if it must be run “as root”.
In any case, when you start it from within an end-user GUI session by clicking on an icon or menu item, it will not run “as root”.
When you then try to run it from a terminal to see if there are any messages, why do you then try to run it “as root”?
And yes, when one starts a program from outside a GUI session that nevertheless tries to open a window, that will lead to problems like “which GUI session” (there may be zero, one or more then one open) and “is that allowed by the GUI owner” (normally not). Which will lead to messages you have. about display, etc.
