timeouts with yast

Hi
Since I moved to Spain a year ago I am getting millions of “Resolving host timed out” and “File does not exist on server” timeouts with yast. Eventually the connection is there and the actual file transfer is with acceptable speed until it moves to the next file to timeout over and over again. Even adding a new repo takes about half an hour.
Direct access to all repos is fast with any browser, no problem there.
Tried using the mirror in Kent, UK which I remember to be good, but no change.
Tried using the mirror here in Zaragoza, Spain, with the same result.
If it not the mirror nor a problem with my dns here, what is it then?
Problem identical on all three machines in the house.

openSUSE 12.1 (formerly 11.3 and 11.4 with similar problems)

what is common to all?

your ISP? your method of connection to the net? the in-house network?
dial up modem? broadband modem? cable modem?

have you tried disabling Ipv6? or better: set your resolve.conf to point
to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (which are googles FREE nameservers correctly set
to do IPv6, instead of your ISP’s nameservers–which are probably
wrongly set to deal with IPv6 and therefore timing out)

Ah!
IPv6 was disabled on all boxes, because I could not even browse with it on. But switching it back on and setting the google dns did it!
Thanks a lot
