I’m looking for some application similar to time vault (Ubuntu) or time machine (apple). I have seen some programs but no one is for KDE, they’re for Gnome (flashback, time-vault, …). Is there some application for opensuse and KDE to do backups? Some rsync frontend for KDE?

yep, the way it looks is an eminently important part of backing up
irreplaceable data…
i would guess you might be stuck with using Time Machine…if you
want something as cool looking as it is…on the other hand, i’d guess
Google uses ugly old scripts with rsync, a lot…

ok, there are probably a thousand available with different levels of
cool looking frontend GUIs–but i don’t know where they might be so
categorized…maybe you could take on that project (make as list of
backup solutions with the coolest looking on top, etc)…
ah, here are ~7,400 hits for cool looking backup solutions for
linux…i’d guess they would all work on openSUSE:

Backup solutions are not for KDE (or for Gnome or whatever). They are for a complete linux system and most of the time you will not even notice them, because they are driven by crontab and work at night. There’s no need for any GUI here.
i know that, and you know that…but, the OP specifically stated he
wants something that “looks as cool as Apple’s Time Machine”…and,
the customer is always right. right??
