Thunderbird new additional icon on taskbar

Hi, after my latest update, Thunderbird creates an additional icon on the taskbar. I still have the blue fox for starting the application, but when started, this new yellow with white W appears on the taskbar. I also noticed that Firefox dialog window for where to save downloaded files, also created this icon. Only me having this?

That’s because Thunderbird is looking for an icon called thunderbird-esr .
As a temporary solution you can create a window rule:

  1. Select the Thunderbird windows and press ALT+F3
  2. Select “More Actions”
  3. Select “Special Application Settings”
  4. Add a new property like “Desktop File Name”
  5. Then change the application name to thunderbird

The icon shown is a generic Wayland icon. I have the same problem and while searching for a solution found the following page.

Note: I did not have time myself to verify if this solution works.

I assume it will be fixed by updates as it is known, anyhow this temporary solution worked, thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
