Thunderbird 136+ Updates

Hi everyone,

Just wondering, it has been well over a month but the Thunderbird is still at v.128 and hasn’t been updated to then v.136 (March 2025) and then to v.137 that was released in the beginning of April.

In the meantime Firefox has been up to date, v.137 as on date.

Repo: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/

Thunderbird has like Firefox four release channels:
Thunderbird (Release), Thunderbird ESR (Extended Support Release), Thunderbird Beta, and Thunderbird Daily.
In openSUSE you get (at the moment) Thunderbird ESR which was updated 10 days ago to Thunderbird ESR 128.9.2.
Maybe you want to help to package Thunderbird (Release)?

Thanks for the reply. So, Thunderbird ESR is what is available, while Release not being maintained.

There was a time, about 15y+ when I used to maintain some packages, today I enjoy the fruits of other maintainers.

I downloaded thunderbird 137 from thunderbird website. Extracted it to a user directory. It started up fine and looks to run from a user directory.

It read inbox and calendar opens. I did not install all my accounts to it. I did not want to risk corrupting my installed 128.9esr installed version.

That is exactly why I do not want to install in manually & separately by downloading from their website. In my main setup I have 7 accounts, and really don’t want to mess it up. Guess will have to wait till it drops to ESR repo.

I have 6 accounts I can’t garble up also. I actually see no functional improvements that would be worth the risk.

I also will wait
