Hello everyone,
I’m posting this to share some news that concerns, amongst others, openSUSE users.
In a message posted on 27 August 2026, Marc Schiffbauer and Stefan Botter announced their joint intention to leave the Packman project.
They wish to hand over this project; in the absence of volunteers to take it forward, Packman will cease operations on 31 December 2026.
As a reminder,
“Packman offers various additional packages for openSUSE, particularly but not limited to multimedia-related applications and libraries that are on the openSUSE Build Service application blacklist. It is the largest external repository of openSUSE packages.”

Have a nice day.
