The opensuse does logoff by it self closing all programs without asks.

Hello guys!
Sometimes I am using Opensuse and it does logoff by it self. Simplesly all the programs get closes and Opensuse asks for logon again. This is happening at least three times a day. Does have somebody here having the same problem? Have solution?
I use Opensuse 11.4 with all updates running on Dell Latitude D620.:frowning:

different possibilities come to mind:

  1. you might be running a program like kget or ktorrent, which offer the
    option to shutt down the computer when all qued downloads have finished;

  2. your system might be over-heating. you should check if
    /var/log/messages has anything to say about that;

  3. your powermanagement options might tell your system to shut down after
    it hasn’t been used for a certain time;

you should post here any error messages you find, and more details about
our setup: what desktop environment (KDE, GNOME, etc.), which version,
and, if there are no error messages, what you were doing at the time the
system shut down.

@phannisvara
As I read it the OP reports logoff. You are talking about things that can shut down the system. Is this some misunderstanding?

correct, my mistake. in that case, my previous suggestions make no sense.

can only imagine he’s got problems with a proprietory video driver then;
that would throw him out of a running session, KDE or whatever. should
leave traces in /var/log/Xorg.0.log if that’s the case.
