Am I one of the few that likes the task bar at the top.
Is there a way I can move it from the bottom to the top with out building one up there.
Is there a way to turn off the tacky, Icon tool bars that pop up on a mouse over on the Icons.

Alright see that thing on the right end of the taskbar, the thing that looks like a cashew?
Click on that and click on “screen edge” to drag the taskbar where you want it.
Or simply right click the panel and select panel options and then panel settings.

In Opensuse 11.2, I right-click on the cashew and I get panel settings option. Then I get to see another panel opening up with a few more options “More settings” and such.
Question is how do I return the panel to the most default state? I don’t find any option under “Personal Settings (Configure Desktop)” in KDE main menu. The background colors and the fonts used on the taskbar are completely crooked, eventhough my desktop seems to be using default style, default colors and default everything. The taskbar does not seem to change its style no matter what I do. Is there another applicaiton that does not show up on “Configure desktop”? I even changed the theme to try to change the taskbar colors and size.
ok… I deleted ~/.kde ~/.kde4 ~/.kderc and rebooted. The taskbar is now using the defaults that come with 11.2 and not some messed up color scheme (dark background and dark foreground! Only when the mouse hovers, the highlighted area was legible). Everything is alright now.
There needs to be a button on KDE personal settings, that does the above. (Reset every desktop setting to factory-defaults and start afresh).

WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED APPLICATIONS STORE THE REAL DATA UNDER .KDE!!! OTHER THAN PREFERENCES AND SETTINGS!!!

Actually they’re under .kde4 unless it’s a KDE3 app then it uses .kde.
It’s always good policy to either rename a folder or make a copy before deleting it.
A bit late for good advice, but, oh well you’ll certainly remember it!
