suse package manager

I just installed suse on my system for first time because I heard kde 4.1 works best on it. I aggree it does. But I will be going back to kubuntu 4.1 which had little problems with in firstplace.

But before I go I like make sure its not something fixable with suse.

the package manager for SUSE is nicely laid out. But it seems the bandwidth or updating times out all the time or takes most my time and experience with suse cause of the very slow speed.

Ubuntu best I seen…seconds for even 100 meg updates…always instant allways updated and installed flawless. Fedora not bad ok speed but way slower bad download then ubuntu. SUSE not usable as package manager. This makes day 3 and on all systems I need to install it on it would not be good to stick with unless there is a solution.

As well the Eula has alot stuff I don’t care for it to be aggreeing on opencode software.

Lastly screen of desktop scrolls and unlike kubuntu which found my nvidia card and installed it on setup suse I had to dig.

another note most sites visit have ubunto packages not suse. One for instance limewire. just click and install on kubuntu. got do some work get it work on suse.

overall look and feel of suse is very polished but when it comes down to speed it is really sluggish compared to kubuntu.

Another note I had to edit the about:config in firefox to get it to open pages without long delay. didnt have do that with kubuntu. Just alot speed and performance mainly that needs twinked at gitgo leaves me put off. That and the main fact that updating is really really really really SLOW.

Our connection in 3 locations …is t1…cable with 15-20 meg and a t3…all locations updates are sluggish and long.

Best Regards
