I made the switch to Linux a month or so ago, and its been good. Linux has pretty much everything I want.
Right now my computer is downstairs and is hooked into the router directly by ethernet. But I’d like to move the computer upstairs to my room. So I’d need to get a Linux compatible PCI Wireless card. It will connect into my Wireless B Linksys Router downstairs.
Since I’ll probably be buying my card online, I need to know it will work well with OpenSuse 11 (GNOME) before I buy it. I can’t really order one, and try it out.
Does anyone know which ones will work well with OpenSuse 11 running GNOME? Ones that I won’t have to go into great deal to get it to work. (I’m not to savvy with Linux)

I prefer the Atheros chipsets, which require MadWifi drivers. I think I
have about 6 cards, several brands. The following I KNOW work:
Belkin F5D7000, ver: 5100
Card has visible chipset with Atheros ‘A’.
D-Link DWL-G510, ver: B1
ver A is a Marvell chipset, Ver B is Atheros. SuSE has support for
Marvell too, but again, I prefer Atheros
NCIX.com has the Belkin F5D7000 in stock for CA$40.31.
To be honest, I’d recommend looking for one of the newer Atheros 802.11n
chipsets, the AR500x series. They’ll support 11b and 11g connections, and
allow upgrading to faster speeds later too.
I have 11g cards in my systems, and upgraded to a DLink 11n router (DIR-655)
and have seen improved rates. (Could have been that my previous one sucked
though)
