Is there a difference to boot with “init 3” or only “3” ???
I tried to boot with:
Bootoptionen init 3
after this the Boot Window appears with “Failed to get NUMA Memory Information from…”,Suse stops loading after “HAL DAEMON - DONE” and gets a blackscreen.
Came back. As I said I had the same problem with a lenovo T410 (SUSE 11.2 64 bit). I tried to follow the instructions but it did not work.
Then I tried to reinstall but instead of doing a complete re installation I chose update instead of new installation. Before doing that I chose the init 3 option.
SUSE presented me two linux partitions and only one with identification (so I did not see the swap partition, nor my home partition). The update did not work with one of the partitions so I tried with the other one. SUSE performed the update in the latest partition.
SUSE warns you about having a non-complete installation but you can continue.
Then I restarted and everything worked as expected. Then I followed the instructions and change the configuration to VESA.
Now the video works but the previous user I created during the installation is not there. Just created everything from root. Still there is some odd behavior. For example, no powerdown option so you can logout but kde poweroff is not present (it works from cli using shutdown)
Other aspects:
Yast does not provides network status, it indicates unknown (but you can control everything using rcnetwork/ifconfig related commands)
Display info. Intel Model Arrandale Controller but it says that driver is unknown.
but for now main issue (no graphic environment) is solved. Maybe as it was said 11.3 will solve it, so we’ll see.
