so my other laptop has a ryzen 5 and a rx560 and no matter what i do using proton or proton ge whenever i install a game it downloads just fine then NORMALLY when i click play game on my other laptop it proceeds to download visual c++ **** and direct x then it compiles the shaders and launches BUT on my rx560 laptop no matter what i try when i click play game it compiles the shaders without downloading any direct x or visual c stuff then obviously dose not launch how can i fix this and why is it happening.
I’m not sure I fully understand what you have written, but the last time I had an issue with a Steam game failing to start properly I fixed it by uninstalling the game from Steam and then reinstalling it. The uninstall+install cleared whatever was messed up and it then ran perfectly (IL2 Battle of Stalingrad via proton, Tumbleweed, Steam from repo-non-oss).
ok so basically NORMALLY whenu install a game with proton it will download the game then when u launch it for the first time it usually proceeds to download direct x and any other microsoft stuff it may need THEN the game will launch. my problem is that even after ire install it and delete it it never installs direcx x it jsut trys to run the game without it then fails to run. im going to try and reformat the laptop see if that fixes it
i formatted the laptop and started over it all works fine now idk what the problem could have been
