Ok, so, I am new to Linux. Been testing Linux Mint for about a month now, decided to give KDE a whirl, and couldn’t get Kubuntu to install so here we are on OpenSuse KDE. So… Where to begin.
Started off trying to install Steam through the Konsole using Zypper , installed a lot of stuff, and in the end, it seemed successful. But when I clicked on the Application Launcher (Start button) , checked Games, no Steam, checked All Applications, no Steam, it couldn’t be found anywhere. Went into Discover , tried to install it through there, said it was already installed. So back into Konsole and used Zypper to uninstall Steam, and reinstalled Steam through Discover. And after it was done, * still * no Steam in the Application Launcher. So back to Konsole, typed “steam” and it ran, updated, finished installing, and it’s still not in the Application Launcher. * head desks *
Then I go and log into Steam, go to my Library, and none of the games will let me install them, all the “Install” buttons are grayed out. Right! So! I am obviously missing something here. Could someone please walk me through the correct steps in installing Steam so it can not only show up in the Application Launcher like it’s suppose to but also let me install and play games through Wine / ProtonDB ? Thank you!
