Snapshot 20260509-0: Fonts not rendering properly on XFCE TW - LT X220

Hello,

After updating today to snapshot 20260509-0, the fonts on my laptop X220 thinkpad are blurry, cut-off and mostly illegible. I would post a picture but I rolled-back immediately due to work. My desktop is working as expected.

I tried the font-config and font cache tricks but those didn’t work. I don’t see a bug report either. Any ideas?

Thank you.

So no one else is experiencing this issue on XFCE? I’m not sure where to report it…XFCE bug reports have always been a waste of time (for me).

I have no problems on desktop, as you say. The most recent XFCE update I have is from the beginning of the month. If the problem started more recently, maybe it was something else? Do you see any files being updated on the laptop that could change font rendering that aren’t updated on the desktop?

I don’t know what it is. I have another laptop and that has no problems. Desktop is fine.

I stupidly reinstalled TW and now I have no rollbacks to solve the problem , so I’ve installed linux mint without issue and I’m back working.

Does anyone know if I can install from an old image? 20260507-0 would be good. I can wait a few weeks to see if it rectifies.

Thanks.

@benxjones you can use tumbleweed-cli and roll back to any release published in the last thirty (30) days via the history repository…

I owe you a beer…

So I have some time until this is hopefully fixed. I’d love it if I could fix it myself in the meantime. Do you have any ideas what it could be, Malcolm?
