It is not happening to me. Try running from a terminal and see if it is throwing any errors.
no errors skype starts without any errors.
But,
When i try to send message
i get this error
/usr/bin/skype: line 4: 6182 Aborted /usr/share/skype/skype-bin
Are you running 32/64 bit Linux? Is the Skype you tried to install 32/64 bit?
You should use 32 Skype even if running 64 bit Linux. 64 bit Skype is still very much beta. You do have to add a couple of 32 bit versions of a couple of libraries.
i guess you have the latest kernel and have the same problem:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/install-boot-login/446369-latest-11-3-kernel-update-revisited.html#post2225615
which makes me guess one of you needs to file a bug report, and the
other needs to add a comment to itβ¦see:

note: that other posting found using this google search string:

Maybe I miss it or it is nowhere written:
Which version of skype (exactly) do you have installed and from which place
(a repository, with 1-click, from the skype web page)?
Can you post the output from
rpm -q skype

But you did not tell us where it comes from, my own skype for 11.3 is the
following one:
(I cannot guarantee that what you want to do will work with what I use, I do
conference only with audio and chat I do not use video).
http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-static
That works for me on 64 bit opensuse 11.3. I installed it simply in my home
folder (installation = unpack it) and made a symlink in ~/bin to the skype
executable.
So if it does not work for you it is almost trivial to remove it.
You need to uninstall your skype with yast first.

your link worked. I removed the old version and installed from the link you have mentioned.
Thanks a lot
