Security Update: Updating kmozillahelper keeps failing

Hi all

When using the Software Updates feature in Leap 15.6:

I keep getting the Update Error: “the installed kmozillahelper-5.0.6-bp156.1.3.x86_64 requires ‘mozilla-kde4-version = 6’, but this requirement cannot be provided”.

It’s keeps nagging me to do this update but it can’t be done.

Looks like a dependency issue?

I’m using the main repos so it could be a mirror issue (in Australia).

Anyone else getting this?

Thanks

Andrew

Thus the same version as you have (and it is there already since installation, no update of it). Also there is no mozilla-kde4....
But i did not have the same problem as you have.

I am getting the same error but when trying to install the Mozilla Thunderbird update that came up today: opensSUSE-SLE-15.6-2025-2546(1)

I just looked at YaST > Software > Online Update and immedialtly got the error. After Cancel at least three times, I got there is an update for Mozilla-Thunderbird (which I of course did not install).

So better skip the update for now. I will try to create a bug-report.

Bug report is here: 1247375 – Strange dependency for Mozilla-Firefox/Thunderbird

For those not following the bug.

There are more reports about this.

The idea seems to be that kmozillahelper is not needed anymore and that deleting it might be OK.

But the discussion also covers that this is not normal. On Leap a security update should not require manual intervention. So they are still working on it.

In the mean time, just unchecking it from installation (on the YaST > Online Update list) should enable you to install eventual other updates in that list.

I have this error as well. 0

Additionally, Firefox now does not use the Dolphin file save dialogue, but some ancient looking dialogue that does not put the subdirectories at the top, so I would guess that issue lies with kmozillahelper having broken dependencies…

Thanks Henk for your help.

Apologies for the delayed reply.
Busy here…

I have bypassed this update for the moment so the others can be done.
The bug report indicates that it should have been solved.
Still hasn’t flowed through to my updates yet. I’ll just be patient!

Andrew

I get the same error. I am now kicking myself for listening to Yast when I downgraded from Firefox 140 to 128. Yast also wants to downgrade T-Bird. I said “forget it.”

This seems to have been resolved in today’s update for kmozillahelper.

Yes, same here.

I could even remove kmozilla-thunderbird without hassle.

I think this can be marked as solved by the OP.
