I haven’t had the black screen problem, but you’re not alone re not seeing sddm in system settings.

Show us your current SDDM configuration. Do this from a VT…

cat /etc/sddm.conf.d/*

I would remove any custom theme entries. In fact rename any existing config file you have there and restart the display manager…

systemctl restart display-manger.service

Do you get a working graphical login?

output of cat /etc/sddm.conf.d/*

Session=default.desktop

[General]

RebootCommand=

after following your advice i have a working graphical login and the errors are gone thanks but can i change my sddm theme it current has the default theme.

Good to know the graphical login is back to a working state. Yes, you should be able to choose one the available themes.

I found sddm-conf in YaST Software Management. It is a C++ GUI interface allowing changes to the kde_settings.conf file. It didn’t add it to System Settings, but it shows up as a standalone program under my System menu.

if i change the sddm theme using sddm-conf i get the following error

i dont have the sddm settings option in the system settings and if i try to change the theme using sddm-conf It is a C++ GUI interface allowing changes to the kde_settings.conf file it gives the following error

You are using an incompatible theme. Layan is not maintained at all and did not recieve any adjustments for Plasma 6…

This is also expected as sddm-kcm6 did not pass security audits and is not available for openSUSE Plasma 6 yet until this issue is solved.

thanks man i just changed the theme to Catppuccin Mocha and now it works.

Ok so i will just wait for it as after a reboot the sddm theme changes to deafult if it set is using the sddm-conf.

sddm-kcm6 got the security clearing and is available as update. this brings back the SDDM setting in systemsettings.

It’s back for me. System Settings → Colors & Themes → Login Screen (SDDM) has returned in snapshot 20240315.

i updated my system to the latest snapshot but it did not installed sddm-kcm6 i had to do it manually, now i have the sddm settings option but if i change the theme at login i get the following error

It was not back for me i updated my system to the latest snapshot but it did not installed sddm-kcm6 i had to do it manually, now i have the sddm settings option but if i change the theme at login i get the following error any idea on how to fix this

Library import requires a version

I had that installed already, but maybe because I’m using Leap with the KDE repos?

Thanks for the heads-up Hui - i had not realised that the sddm module was available again.
