My WWAN is not networked even though it shows activity. It’ll seem to work for so long but goes wonk over many dups. I found an inplace upgrade not to work whereas nuke & pave did. This suggests the problem was in some /home configuration? Anyone know what to do? Many thanks in anticipation of help.
More explicit details required. What brand/model? How are you connected to it? Is it a USB-connected device? Managed by ModemManager?
M.2 Sierra Wireless EM7345 under a ThinkPad X250.
OK, so an internal device connected to the USB subsystem.
It can be shown with
usb-devices
If it is dropping the connection after a while, monitoring NetworkManager log could be useful here
sudo journalctl -fu NetworkManager
Just leave it running in a terminal and observe/capture the output when you seem to no longer be connected.

Straight up acts as not connected, the WWAN icon can ghost (disappear but leave empty space in system tray.)

The log snippet posted doesn’t suggest any connection issues with the WWAN device, although I did a few messages related to /etc/resov.conf not being modified…

That will happen if NM think that it shouldn’t touch it. That might be affecting your ability to to resolve perhaps if no valid nameserver(s) defined there…
cat /etc/resolv.conf
You could also just remove it, and reconnect. Then NM will recreate it.
the WWAN icon can ghost (disappear but leave empty space in system tray.)
I recall similar behaviour from years ago, but it didn’t affect the device behaviour - just a front-end issue.
You genius!!!
Deleting file then reconnecting resolved completely!!!
I’m glad it was something simple!
