Remove an Application Icon from Plasma System Tray Widget

I made the mistake of trying Xtreme Download Manager and have had to spend some time removing it. I only have myself to blame but I think I have cleaned it out except that an XDM icon is still showing in Plasma Entries with a visibility box showing “Shown when relevant.” How do I remove it altogether rather than just hiding it please?

The way to go would have been to uninstall the browser extension via the used browser, and afterwards clean the extension directory in your browser profile from any traces.

But this extension might have some nasty functions which prevents easy removal. It got blocked by all major browser manufacturers due to violation of several store policies…

You may check file ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc.

I had uninstalled it from the browser but the icon is still there.
Couldn’t find it in ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc.
Will keep looking.

According the dev homepage this nasty extensions nests itself into /opt/xdman

Hi Hui,
Many thanks. I agree nasty is right, it installed a shell script on my root directory too!
I have now removed the files in /opt and hope there is no other rubbish lurking.
Still not been able to remove the icon but working on it.
Many thanks.

Hi,
Sorry I forgot to close this thread. Once I had removed the files from /opt a re-boot removed the unwanted icon.
Many thanks once more.
