Hello! every one. I have forgotten the root password o a custom built PC with dual boot windows XP on one HDD and open SUSE 11.3 on another HDD. This is my son’s machine in USA and I am sharing it with him. We have forgotten the root password for this system. I am out of touch with computers for two years and hence I am appealing in this forum to suggest a non destructive method to set the root password. Earlier I have done it many times for Red hat 7.1, SUSE professional 9.1, 9.2 , 9.3, 10.1, 10.3 and 11.3. As I am out of touch I am on the lookout for nondestructive procedure to set the root password.

If you google for “opensuse.org: lost root password” you find several
