So 5G frequency support is still listed. What leads you to believe that you can’t connect to an AP operating in the 5G band?
Does a scan pick up all expected APs?
sudo /usr/sbin/iw wlp5s0u1 scan|egrep "freq|SSID"
dmesg |egrep "rtl|firmware"

BTW…not relevant to this thread, but I note you do have an issue with BT firmware.
Yes it does pick up all expected APs.
It just connected to the 5Ghz one now but before it did not. It seems to be doing that intermittently.
Ok, so since you didn’t share the output, does this include any that operate in the 5G band? Again, what leads you to believe that you can’t connect to an AP operating in the 5G band?
It works now. It wasn’t connecting before with the right password it just asked for the password again. In any case it is working now. Thank you for your time.
Are you using NetworkManager? If so, you can track the connection status (NM output) in a terminal window with
sudo journalctl -fu NetworkManager
When it next gets disconnected unexpectedly, you might get to know clues about the underlying cause perhaps
Ok, good to know it is working as expected.
