More out of curiosity than anything: I was wondering what happened to that Helix Player application that you used to get in Linux distros a few years back?
As far as I could tell it was basically Realnetworks’ attempt to create an open-source base for Realplayer, but IMHO completely pointless as the player never included any codecs to play anything (not even for Realnetworks’ own formats!) and couldn’t pick them up from the system either.
Or maybe a better question, what do people use to play realmedia nowadays and how often do you still encounter this format?
