ReadyShare access (NetGear router)

In Leap 15.1, I could access smb://10.0.0.1/USB_Storage by entering that in Dolphin, on my laptop when connected to WiFi. I had no configurations done on the laptop, it just worked. Now, on Leap 15.2, it doesn’t work. Has anyone had this problem, and found a solution? I can’t set up /etc/fstab for that, that I know of, it only works if connected to the LAN. As far as I know, anyway. I could just use a USB stick and run upstairs to my other computer, but that’s not as convenient lol!

More than likely your NAS storage is using the SMBv1 protocol which has been compromised for years and is a common vector for ransomware.

Both current MSWindows and openSUSE therefor implement a default policy not to support SMv1 by default.
You should first investigate whether your NAS can support SMBv2 by configuration or an upgrade. If that’s possible then things will “just work.”
If that isn’t possible, next recommendation is to investigate other protocols your NAS supports for serving files like https and ftps/sftp.
If all of the above isn’t possible, then you can take your chances and modify your SMB client configuration to support SMBv1.

Ah, old sneakernet!
Or, running a very, very long cable…

TSU

I’ll check into that, thanks. If the router can’t be “fixed”, I’ll use a USB drive. I could use the exercise going up & down the stairs.

There’s no setting for the router to fix it, but I can run a LAN cable to the upstairs computer, at least. The laptop, well, out of luck with that. That one isn’t used much anyway, so I’m good with that.
