Random system hangs with Marvell 88E8001 and skge (osus11.0)

I built a new system with a Asus P5Q-E mb, which has 2 Marvell NICs on it, an 88E8056 and an 88E8001. It ran fine for quite some time with just the first NIC enabled, but being the twiddler, I enabled the 2nd NIC when I installed VirtualBox.

Things ran fine for quite some time, but then the system started hanging randomly, after about an hour or so of uptime. Total hang, rock hard.

I pulled my hair out (what little is left :() for a day, ultimately decided that it wasn’t bad hardware, and finally started eliminating drivers. When I disabled the 2nd NIC (the 88E8001), the hangs seem to have disappeared. I went from about 8 hangs yesterday to no hangs in 24 hours.

I’m good for now, but wanted to post this in case others run into similar problems, and in the hope that someone having something to do with the skge driver may either have some insight into why it might be hanging, or be interested in looking into it more.

Thanks
