Random freezes with Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000-Series) CPUs

The mainboard is an MSI X570-A PRO with the latest UEFI installed. The CPU model is Ryzen 5 3600. C6 state is, afaik, disabled (using https://github.com/jfredrickson/disable-c6), though “cat /sys/module/intel_idle/parameters/max_cstate” returns “9”.

Now to the problem I have: the machines freeze randomly. It might be randomly during idling for an hour. It might be after five minutes or an hour of quite high load. It might also be exactly when starting something.

What can I do to fix that?

Possibly overheating.
Put fans to blow to a both sides of this mobo.
Or maybe you will need more powerful PSU, or …

You might try installing the tumbleweed kernel to see if it improves stability.

zypper ar https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/Kernel:stable.repo

Then do a zypper dup to the new repo.
