RAID 0 corrupted when dual-booting Windows 11

RAID 0 using 2 identical-model HDD drives becomes corrupted / unusable after dual-booting to Windows 11.

Have experimented using Western Digital and Toshiba HDDs.

Have experimented formatting RAID using EXT4 and XFS.

RAID is never mounted while using Windows but upon re-booting to OpenSUSE, the RAID is corrupted.

Has anyone else experienced this?

@8876523450 What type of RAID setup, there are many… Software RAID, RAID Controller, VMD, not Intel RAID?

Good question.

Software RAID 0 set up using Tumbleweed YAST Partitioner.

@8876523450 Only thing I would look at is the next time you boot Windows, look in Disk management and see if it’s done anything with the drives there and maybe able to tell it not to touch? But does seem more a Windows issue that Linux issue?

Definitely a Windows issue. Posting to learn if other people also encountered it / warn people about it.

My solution was to use Windows Disk Manager to “disable” each of the drives. Then create the RAID in OpenSUSE. Windows now appears to leave the disks alone.
