pulse volume audio control won’t start.
Clicking on the icon does nothing. Output from terminal:
> pavucontrol
pavucontrol: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib64/libcanberra-gtk3.so.0: cannot read file data: Input/output error
I need this to set audio output channels to apps.

If this happened to me, the 1st thing I would check for is a corrupted application “libcanberra-gtk3-0” and/or “libcanberra-gtk3-module”.
Force a re-install of those 2 apps and try again.
Also, ensure you do not have some 3rd party repository in your list of repositories that could have messed up your libcanberra-gtk3.so.0 install.
Yes, that did the trick, working now.
Maybe the vlc package is the cause, installed.
I’m using monitor speakers. Now viewing PAV, they all say unplugged. It’s usually HDMI1 or HDMI2 - ‘plugged in’.
