Hi, just a thought, I think we need to put a section for the PS3 topic, so anyone who has questions, tricks, tips, etc can post there…

We can discuss this but honestly I don’t think it will get much support.
You are actually the first person I have seen asking anything about PS3.
What an interesting answer from one of the SUSE administrator??? What’s the point then SUSE created an official support for PS3 such as this one:

Do you know how many users of PS3 world wide?? well obviously SUSE must have taken notice and make an official support for it. Besides installing and configuring PS3 is quite a challenge
I see your point on this, but its a bit too specific for a whole subforum to be dedicated to it. This idea would best be implemented as a full seperate forum rather than a sub forum on here.
Either that or just post it as a topic on here if/when you do run into problems and just hope that someone has experiance with it.
I cant imagine a PS3 subforum would get many visits/threads, but then again I may be wrong. Im not a fan of the PS3, mainly coz Im skint and cant buy it
I’ll just stick with my SNES
The thing is I believed only recently that SUSE officially support PS3. Sony has recommended the YDL for people to try. Also many PS3 owners are not even aware that their console is capable of installing OS. Most of them only think it is just a multimedia consoles. However things are about to change…more and more people are hearing about Linux on PS3. DO your google search and you will find, most people are not yet aware of SUSE supporting linux. I guess, since the wireless connection is not working yet, people still stick with the YDL.
For me, I really think after spending $600 on it, installing Linux will make much more worth it than just playing game consoles. At least I can use it more productive just like a computer can…such as web browsing (the built-in one sucks), email client…etc…
Honestly having a try at SUSE, I find it better than YDL…just wish if they can get the wireless to work.
Being a PS3 owner myself and having tried the PPC version on it, I fail to see the greater point in it, even from an academic sense.
The system is so heavily crippled that it’s useless - memory limitations, CPU core limitations, GPU limitations and so forth - many of the x86 programs cannot be used on it at all due to being tied to the architecture (Such as win-codecs).
I doubt many would try it more than humorously to see that it works.

I have a PS3, and yah, I might try it for the geek value.
I have heard people running Mame on the PS3 under Linux.
Now that definitely has an appeal. In actuality someone
should put together a Linux distro optimized for PS3 and
Mame. Now THAT would be useful.
