Project Rebrand?

I never said it was intentional, I was implying that it happened as an accident due to little thought as to how it would be received by the community.

And the only reason I was unsure and briefly spelled the name wrong was because I was confused.

Using Tumbleweed since a week from now. Got to it because I’m working on a translation of bugzilla 5.2 and Tumbleweed seems to be the only distro who carries it in their repos.
I was somewhat bewildered in the forums reading about Leap and Tumbleweed and some more. So I thought things could get clearer when I looked at the video mentioned above. But alas, it made things even worse. While I kind of like the product as it is now, the whole setup (or lack of it) could send me off running away as far as I can. It happens that for the moment I have no choice, althought the distro itself is tempting.

It is not that difficult. Leap 15.6 is the stable (fixed) release (like Mageia 9). Factory is the raw development version (like Cauldron). And Tumbleweed is the rolling release version (nothing comparable at Mageia).

But there are others like MicrOS and Kaplan (or something like that) and SLED and ???.
Google translate makes from a saying in my native Dutch: too many roosters on one dunghill.

openSUSE != SUSE.
Benieuwd wat je Google gevoerd hebt

OK, fun, but let’s not go off-topic too much.

My uniformed opinion:

  1. I like the logo in post #64 … it tells me it’s relevant to my distribution
  2. I’ve always looked at TW/Slowroll , Leap etc… as being like a river
  3. Any name change should be a real word, not some weird, hard to spell made up name

As for the river analogy TW is the rapids … it can be challenging but with a little skill infinitely doable, SlowRoll is more manageable but still fun, Leap is the point where you get to relax and enjoy the scenery … then you get to the Delta with Kalpa, MicroOS, Aeon etc and get to choose your next direction

There is a saying “Go big or go home” so I would propose the aforementioned logo/mascot for brand recognition with a river related name to highlight the differences in TW, SlowRoll etc… while still recognizing they are all one entity as a whole and work together

Rivers can also exist both as a terrestrial entity and in the stars implying there are no limits to what this distribution can (and will) accomplish

Ok … I’ll be quiet now

I think the new logo of Tumbleweed is very similar to the trademarked logo of CloudBees.

Only with too much fantasy…

I M strong O, large size, demi stroke weight text connotes weakness, not something that attracts anything to anything, such as new users to an unfamilar distro. Even in normal use demi stroke weight is annoying, unless used very sparingly. The upper symbol in this particular image suggests some sort of secret society meaning.
