Problems with keyboard repeat after PC upgrade

Hi all,
I have recently upgraded my hardware replacing nearly everything.
I have a new MoBo (MSI B550-A Pro), new CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 3600), new ram, new graphics card, etc.
Everything is working very well with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, so I’ am quite happy with the result.
There is only one thing that is bothering me, although it is not very impacting: my keyboard (a USB wired keyboard) is acting weirdly sometimes.
The problem is seen mostly when navigating the BIOS or in SDDM while keying in my password. It is very rarely seen once KDE plasma is fully booted up.
The problem is that keystrokes are sometimes ignored and other times one key gets “sticky” and starts repeating very fast.
I tried updating the BIOS but I have not seen any difference. Also, I do not find any setting in BIOS that seem to influence the behavior.
I know this has probably little to do with linux, as the problem shows itself mostly before booting or before starting up the DE, but I’d like to know if anybody else is experiencing something like this problem.

Thank you in advance
Cris

Hi
I have seen type of issue here with an old HP laptop and it’s keyboard (In the maybe look at later junk box), put it down to the keyboard itself. Have you tried a different USB keyboard, if not might be the best cause of action, else try plugging into a different USB port (USB 2.0?) or can set to 2.0 in BIOS, eg legacy USB.

Hi malcolmlewis!

Thank you, I’ll try with another USB keyboard as soon as I can get my hands on it

You said you built youself a new PC I just did in September myself & had this same problem! Its likely not your keyboard try going into the BIOS find your memory profile and enable XMP.
I know it may not make sense to you now but for me it was one those when you see it you’ll know I only found out about this from Newegg forums.

Hi Sagemta!

Sorry for the late repy! You’re right: it (apparently) makes no sense, but it worked!!
Thank you!
