Please Wireless Help

Hi All,
I just installed openSUSE dual-boot with windows. Wireless works fine on windows. Only ethernet works on openSUSE. At first, it couldn’t even find my wireless network. With my friend’s help we experimented and tried everything to find the driver for my broadcam4312 driver. Later, my friend some update from the official openSUSE peeps…

Then, the wireless could my network. I entered in my password and then hoped for the best :expressionless: but then it got stuck on the Obtaining IP Adress part. I know I got the rite password. Please help !!! :slight_smile:

Btw I have Lenovo G550

/sbin/lspic -nnk

The wireless info will be at the end, but post it all if you can’t figure it out.

It should be lspci - typo above.

You already have the correct driver loaded. Please enter the following commands
and post the output:

sudo /usr/sbin/iwconfig scan
/usr/sbin/iwconfig

There are a couple of possible solutions listed here:

Broadcom BCM4312 no wireless. Possible solutions here:

  1. Plugging in to a hardwired connection + allowing Ubuntu Karmic to do updates, rebooting and selecting “Broadcom STA Driver” under Hardware Drivers from System preferences.

When I enter sudo /usr/sbin/iwconfig scan I get:

You are associated. You likely have the routing problem. Enter the command
‘/sbin/route -n’. Is there an entry with the “Flags” entry of UG? If not, post
what you see.

If there is a UG row, then post the output of ‘cat /etc/resolv.conf’.

Both routing table and resolv.conf look fine, BUT you were connected via eth0,
not your wireless. Pull the wire, try to connect with wireless and repeat the
outputs.

In this case, your wireless was not up.

No No… My wireless was working I’m sure. My other computers with Windows XP were running fine with wireless. So here is what I did…

1)Disconnect Etherent from laptop

  1. Try to connect with Wireless

  2. ENter all passwords

  3. Enter Commands

Can you help me based on this?

Other than the kwallet password, do NOT enter the passwords from a popup. You
must use the applet’s “Manage Connections” button to create the connection
including the encryption password, etc.

Here I did the same thing as last time but I only entered the kdwallet password.
