Plasma5 update today, 2 minor problems

hi,

after updating today could not get kde to work and found
Aya Desktop Theme the culprit, ok after
-System Settings --Desktop Theme set to Air or Breeze

how can duel monitors be setup?
only Compositor found in
-System Settings --Hardware —Display and Monitor

what’s missing?

any help appreciated

everything else appears ok

cheers

There are more display settings under Workspace > Desktop Behavior

hi,

Some notes,

  1. kdm can still be setup via
    -systemsettings (not systemsettings5)
    –Login Screen

  2. screens can be setup via
    -systemsettings (not systemsettings5)
    –Display and Monitor
    —Display Configuration
    but system stability is questionable
and settings do not survive a reboot

for 2.) above its assumed an update for systemsettings5
is in the pipeline

cheers

Correct.

  1. screens can be setup via
    -systemsettings (not systemsettings5)
    –Display and Monitor
    —Display Configuration

But not for Plasma5.
You have to use systemsettings5 for that.

I don’t know whether kscreen5 migrates the settings from the KDE4 version…

but system stability is questionable
and settings do not survive a reboot

The latter is probably because you used KDE4’s systemsettings.

For the former, Plasma5 should be stable, unless there’s some graphics driver problem…

for 2.) above its assumed an update for systemsettings5
is in the pipeline

Well, the “fix” that’s in the pipeline is to rename systemsettings5 to “Configure Desktop” as well.
I’m not quite sure whether that helps with the original problem or confusion though.

wolfi323 thx,

for whatever reason kscreen5 was not installed!

it is now and all monitors are working as before

cheers

That fixed it for me too. Run “system settings” (5.3) not the old “Configure Desktop” (4.11.x), since both configurations are installed, you just need to use the newer version.

Ah.
That package is only recommended, not required.

Two days a strict requirement has been added to plasma5-workspace though, so not having it installed will not be possible in the future.
