Plasma Login Manager - Missing Package?

Hi All,

Long-time openSUSE user here, started out on the great Linux journey with a free disc of 10.1 on the cover of Computer Shopper magazine back in 2006, and never looked back!

There’s been a lot distro-hopping in the meantime, but I returned to openSUSE some time ago, and I’m feeling very happy and at home with the distro!

Question though…

I’ve just installed the latest Tumbleweed updates, including the new KDE Plasma Desktop 6.6.

The feature I was most looking forward to trying out was the new ‘Plasma Login Manager’, replacing SDDM. But I can see no sign of it!

I’m on a pretty standard install, and yes I am running systemd

As far as I can tell, I have no package installed, and there is no package available, and ‘opi’ doesn’t locate a package either.

The KDE Settings app shows nothing (only the old settings for SDDM), and listing the display managers on my system only shows the usual console/gdm/sddm/xdm. Nothing ‘plm’ or similar.

There really seems to be no sign of it anywhere!

Has anyone else seen it, or got it to work? Am I missing something obvious?

Cheers,

Ian

Nobody has packaged and published it yet.

I’m looking forward to trying that as well.

Not quite ready for TW yet…

"The build can not begin, because required packages are either missing or not explicitly defined.

Repository has been published

unresolvable: nothing provides user(plasmalogin), nothing provides group(plasmalogin), nothing provides obs-service-set_version_plasma6"

Oh, it’s packaged.

Ah, thanks for the info.

I hadn’t realised that this was a separate feature that might arrive later, much of the publicity on t’Interwebs (which tends to get regurgitated from site to site) seemed to indicate it would just come with the rest of the update.

I guess we’ll just have to be patient, and things will arrive at their own natural pace
