password help

Yes i kind of lost my password for log in for my root system is there a way to recover password? I tried to used installation media but dont know were to go please help?

At the Grub menu, press “e” to edit the boot line (this only applies for this boot, will not permanently change your boot options).

Scroll down to the line beginning with “Linux”, press the END key to get to the end of that line, add a space, then add “init=/bin/sh” (without the quotes) to the line. This should get you into a minimal system where you can just change the password with:

init=/bin/sh
