Packman and updating question

If I’m using Packman repos should I i be using the packman & allow vendor change options when doing a zypper DUP??

Vender change is sticky you normally only need to do it once for the most part

So if I do SUDO DUP - - vendot

And then I just do sudo zypper DUP --from packman??ONCE I’VE DONE THE change vendor??

Cause if I just do zypper DUP after it’s dependency hell.

You do it once to perform the vendor-change to packman repo:

sudo zypper dup --from packman --allow-vendor-change

Afterwards a simple zypper dup will suffice, as the packages which are switched to packman will get upgrades from packman repo due to vendor stickiness.

  1. zypper DUP is always wrong, you better do zypper dup
  2. you specify that your openSUSE version is “other”, thus if doing zypper dup is a good thing we can not tell, for Leap it is wrong, for Tumbleweed it is a must.

I get this

henk@boven:~> SUDO DUP--vendot
Als 'SUDO' geen typefout is dan kunt u command-not-found gebruiken om het pakket op te sporen dat het bevat, zoals deze:
    cnf SUDO
henk@boven:~>

I assume you get the same, but probably in English (or another language).

No, I’m using slowroll, it just wants to remove lots of things if I just do the DUP and I can’t login to Wayland KDE afterwoods, but can login to X11 KDE.

Instead of describing some vague stuff…show the complete terminal output and post it in preformatted text tags </> here.

  1. Why didn’t you choose that as tag when starting this topic?
  2. What has it to with my prove that the command SUDO does not exist?

Sorry I don’t understand what you’re asking in your second question

Henk pointed out (via terminal output) that a command like SUDO DUP--vendot does not exist. And your answer was that you are using Slowroll…so completely unrelated.

You still have not shown any terminal output which shows your actual issue.

Then you could at least have answered my first question.

Maybe forget it, but concentrate on what @hui asks.

Sorry I meant dup in lower case.
Zypper dup is for Slowroll. I would upgrade to tumbleweed but last time I tried it wanted to remove the whole KDE desktop, although I hadn’t used any of the arguments such as allow changing vendor.

I can’t atm as I’m in hospital.

sudo zyp ref && sudo zypper dup --from packman --allow-vendor-change

And was is the exact issue or question with this?
The only information from this output is that you still have your installation media enabled. Simply remove it via YaST-> Software repositories.

Problem: 1: problem with the installed librist4-0.2.7-1699.1.pm.4.x86_64
Solution 1: install librist4-0.2.10-1.3.x86_64 from vendor openSUSE
  replacing librist4-0.2.7-1699.1.pm.4.x86_64 from vendor http://packman.links2linux.de
 Solution 2: keep obsolete librist4-0.2.7-1699.1.pm.4.x86_64

Solution 1

  1. it does not show in YaST-> Software repositories
  2. The question is in the first post (If I’m using Packman repos should I i be using the packman & allow vendor change options when doing a zypper dup?? or just the the first time i do i dup?)

Point 1: It is “openSUSE-20240803-0”. But simply show us zypper lr -d
Point 2: was already answered
