Opera 12.16 build 1860 mail problem

I’m on 13.1 with xfce, recently Opera was upgraded to this version from openSUSE repos and mail client gets stuck on fetching messages. It occasionally downloads them on startup but when checking at preset intervals it fails again. “Fetching messages” popup appears in mail panel, message count is there, like in “0/5”, but then it goes away saying “no messages received”.

Elsewhere I’ve read that “Enable TLS v1.1” in about:config might get lost during the upgrade and need to be manually set to 1. Occasionally fiddling with TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 helps to fetch messages on start but then problem reappears again.

It affects all my POP3 accounts, I don’t have any imap accounts set, though.

Any ideas?

Same version here except _64bit
But no issues

It might not be related to Opera itself but to openSUSE overwriting security settings set by it.

Once Opera starts with new TLS settings mail works okay but then on the second mail check they don’t work anymore. Changing these TLS settings does not take effect without restart.

Opera connects, authorizes, syncs, gets a message count, but quietly fails on actual download.

Tested Opera on another computer with the same system, works as expected.

Finally redone whole mail setup following instructions here:

Everything exported-imported back nicely and the problem went away.
