What you quote does not seem quite normal in the menu at number 2 I would expect to see failsafe - not rescue.
At the boot menu when you select 1. Open Suse11
Pause the timer by moving the down arrow
then move back to number 1.
clear all boot arguments by holding down backspace and type: vesa
hit enter
see if that will work

I have tried as you suggested. But ended up with the same result.
Let me put the issue more clearly.
When starting , everything is going with the checking [done]…
When the option
“Starting HAL daemon” is coming…
Screen is going blank for ever…Even I am waiting more than 15minutes…
Then manually I need to switch off my Laptop…
Please suggest …
HAL basically looks after all your devices PCI, USB etc
During install de-select automatic configuration and you will have opportunity to do it during install, it may help you get past the problem. Make sure you don’t have any unusual devices connected
