opensuse does not refresh 3G wireless modem status

I am using opensuse 12.1 x64 on thinkpad x200.

I have Verizon 3g modem on PCIMCIA After I connect to the network, the icon in the top-right corner does not change after the strength of the signal is changed.

Any idea how to fix it?
