Post output from the following commands, please:
ip addr sh
ip route sh
cat /etc/resolv.conf
Do any other computers on the network work? If so, please get the
IP/subnet/routing/DNS information from them as well for comparison.
Good luck.

I typed in the console and got this:
alm@linux-ayun:~> ip addr sh
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 16436 qdisc noqueue
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00
brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
inet 127.0.0.1/8 brd 127.255.255.255 scope host lo
inet6 ::1/128 scope host valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
2: eth0: <BROADCAST, MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc noop qlen 1000

alm@linux-ayun:~> ip route sh
127.0.0.018 dev lo scope link
alm@linux-ayun:~> cat/etc/resolv.conf
bash: cat/etc/resolv.conf: No such file or directory
I am typing this from my other computer and it detects the connection automatically as it is automatic. Please help.

You have no default route, which isn’t going to help you. Compare with
other systems on your network.
Also, you mistyped the ‘resolv.conf’ line.
Good luck.

Just to make sure, as your system doesn’t seem to pick up an IP address,
you do have the dhcp client installed and running?
