Opensuse crashes

I’ve update this morning from 11.2 to 11.3. Everything seems ok but few minutes after I’ve a system freeze (keyboard and mouse are blocked) and I’ve to reboot the system.

The problem apperars three times from there, and so my system is completely inusable… random time after reboot my system freezes.

I’ve the last nvidia drivers installed from opensuse-nvidia repos, and my xorg.conf is following:

SUSE Paste

And the Xorg.0.log is

SUSE Paste

Please help me, I’ve never used opensuse before! My video card is:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G96 [GeForce 9400 GT] (rev a1)

Do you have a liveCD ?

If so, you could after a crash, boot to the liveCD, and then check the logs on the hard drive (NOT on the liveCD) of the /var/log/messages file and also the /var/log/boot file ? … Also, the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file you provided, was that the file from the session with the crash ? If not, we want the file from the crash (and NOT the file from your recent boot), and the way to get that is to boot to a liveCD after the crash so as to preserve the OLD file from the crash.

I note a nVidia card with the proprietary nVidia driver. Is this a 32-bit bit openSUSE KDE4 install ? If so, I note there is a bug impacting ONLY 32-bit openSUSE-11.3 KDE4 users with the proprietary nVidia graphics driver. 64-bit users are not effected. Gnome, LXDE, XFCE users are not effected.

Dependant on your hardware and your openSUSE install, its possible you were bit by that bug.

but, you used 11.2, right?
was it running good before you moved to 11.3?

specificially, how did you move to 11.3?
i ask because i don’t understand why you have an xorg.conf
already…and, i do not understand why it is dated 3 weeks ago

so, my first guess you did not move correctly from 11.2 to 11.3, and
that is the reason for your machine not now working…

i do NOT know if you can now try to do it correctly and succeed, so be
sure to protect all data on every hard drive in your machine…by that
i mean to backup to off machine medium all music, movies, letters,
emails etc etc etc on the drive(s) which you wish to preserve, and
then upgrade as explained here:

http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade

hopefully that will work, other wise . . . well, i would zero idea
where to begin to try to rescue what you have now…

I’ve update from 11.2 to 11.3 via command line following this:
SDB:System upgrade - openSUSE

After that, i’ve modified nvidia repos (passing from 11.2 to 11.3) and reinstalling nvidia drivers (or not? I’m not sure of this).

I remember that on this morning, BEFORE the full system upgrade, I’ve updated the system via zypper and nvidia-kernel or similar was updated.

How can I verify all this procedure?

There’s a log file where I can read all this steps?

Tomorrow (the pc is at work) I try to boot from a livecd (I’ve a kubuntu one) and to see the logs.

Sorry, I did not see your answer to this question:

Ahh … never mind, … I note a 64-bit system from one of the log files you posted:
