Think that one would drive me bananas… 
I keep a very basic desktop - with no real effort to fancy it up - putting icons in folders for apps that I use moderately often.

I recently changed my desktop background (which had the openSUSE lightbulb into just recently) to the above, putting an image of the location to where I may retire in the not too distant future. < fingers crossed >
