OpenSuse 42.1. Unable to communicate with printer

Hallo:

I’ve an installation of Opensuse 42.1 and a HP Deskjet F2180C Printer. When try to print, I receive this error: “Unable to communicate with printer HP…”.

With hplip package it doesn’t work. After updating to last hplip (downloading software), the problem is the same. Uninstalling hplip and using printer configuration from Yast, I do not receive any error, but nothing is printed.

It’s a multifunction device and scanner work right. If restart and use Opensuse 13.1 or Ubuntu (in the same computer) it works fine.

Running hplip test, I receive the next message below.

I don’t know what else to try. Any suggestion?

Thanks

Hi
Did you use the hp-setup program to configure and also check that cups service is enabled and running?

systemctl status cups.service
systemctl enable cups.service
systemctl start cups.service
systemctl status cups.service

Finally, I’ve solved the problem.

Tired of not finding solution, I’ve reinstalled OpenSuse completely. But result was the same.

How I’ve solved problem?

I’ve **uninstalled hplip **and used yast configuration printer. But I’ve used a driver with name like “HP Deskjet f2100 xxxx cups xxx” instead of using the default “xxx hpijs xxx”.

Now it works fine.
