OpenSuse 16.0 RC1 - instalation not running

Looking around, the

root=live:nfs://xx.xx.xx.xx/data/LinuxInstall/openSUSE-Leap-16_0/openSUSE-Leap-16_0-DVD-x86_64.iso

may work. It should even be possible to pass just the squashfs image (which at the end is what is needed).

Thank you, that now indeed gives me the iso over the network. Now onwards and upwards.

The DD option in Rufus helped.

I think I was able to identify the culprit. Switching to the terminal with its message journal, I came across an repeated loop of dracut-initqueue messages failing to access the Leap-16 file system by UUID. I guess that previous installer worked with /dev/sdX2 addressing method. As all other Distros work fine with Ventoy, it is the initrd of Leap 16, which breaks this working method.

Has anyone an idea howto overcome this hurdle?

Don’t use Ventoy…

Ventoy does not support Leap 16.0 installation image.

Second that. Rufus DD option made it a breeze, installer flew past the dracut ‘issue’ without a blink. (For info, I chose the ‘Grub2’ rather than the ‘normal’ install option).
