OpenSuse 12.3 / IP from DHCP / hostname defined on file

Hello,

I have following problem. I have successful installed the brand new version of OpenSUse. networking is working quite fine, mozilla does his job.
Now I want to give to my suse installation a name, let’s say Linux01. I configured it using yast / network devices / network settings. Network Manager is disabled.
When I do a nslookup for Linux01 I get an unknown host error. Also ping is not working.
What do I miss ?
Thank you very much for any hint

If your system always gets the same IP address, you can add an entry to “/etc/hosts”.

If the IP address changes, then it is better to just check the box “Assign hostname to loopback” in Yast device settings.

“nslookup” queries public DNS servers. Unless you have a registered domainname, you won’t get that working.
