I just upgraded my PC with an Epson Stylus C88 connected to the parallel port to OpenSUSE 12.1. At first there was no /dev/lp0, but updating with this suggestion from a previous email fixed that:
YaST > System > /etc/sysconfig/ Editor, navigate to System > Kernel > MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT, add the lp driver
But now I attempt to configure the printer with Yast and it can’t find a printer driver. I get the same thing using the CUPS interface (http://localhost:631/admin).
Is Yast or CUPS the right way to do this?
Do I need to configure a printer drivers repository of some sort?
Is there a resolution to this problem?
A search on this forum shows that others are reporting this, for example:
p.s. I posted this same issue as a reply to my original post about the mission /dev/lp0, but then figured maybe this was a separate issue and should this get a new thread. Sorry for the duplication.
